Meet Us on the River: Tabling Events
Connect. Learn. Act.

As we paddle the Mississippi River from source to sea, Drift South Expedition will be stopping in dozens of towns to host community tabling events. These in-person pop-ups are a chance to meet the crew, learn about river health, and discover how you can get involved.
Whether you're a curious local, a student, an activist, or someone who just loves the river—we’d love to talk.
What Happens at a Tabling Event?
✅ Live Demonstrations
See how we collect data with affordable DIY tools like Secchi disks and macroinvertebrate nets—and how you can do the same.
✅ Local Issues, Local Action
We spotlight environmental challenges specific to the region and connect people with local nonprofits making a difference.
✅ Inspiration & Involvement
From donating to Camp One Step to joining a river cleanup, we’ll share practical ways to take action—no gear or degree required.
✅ Share Your Story
We want to hear from locals. What’s changed about the river in your lifetime? What challenges does your community face? These stories help us build a real-time picture of the river—and help shape the case for stronger protections.
✅ Advocacy Starts Here
At the table, you can sign up to meet with your local representatives or lend your voice to policy conversations. We’ll help organize citizen lobbying efforts to show elected officials that constituents care about clean water, healthy ecosystems, and resilient communities.
✅ River Stories, Real Impact
Pick up educational materials, expedition updates, and stories from the journey.

Why Tabling Works
When you're on a 2,000+ mile journey—walking or paddling—people listen. During our Appalachian Trail thru-hikes, we often joked that we were "minimally famous." People stopped us, asked questions, wanted to know what it was all about. That curiosity opened doors to deeper conversations about nature, health, and community.
We’ve learned that big adventures are powerful tools to start important conversations. Tabling is how we turn that curiosity into connection—and that connection into action.
