Fueling Local Impact: Mississippi River Nonprofits

We’re also raising funds for nonprofits working directly to protect and restore the Mississippi River. These organizations are on the front lines—monitoring water quality, educating the public, restoring habitats, and fighting for environmental justice.

Through social media outreach, traditional media coverage, and in-person tabling events along our 2,300-mile route, we’re amplifying their work and encouraging direct community support. Our goal is to channel funding and visibility to these essential groups—especially those serving historically under-resourced areas.

We’re committed to giving as much local help as possible by spotlighting each region’s most relevant nonprofits and conservation efforts.

Funding Hope: Camp One Step

Drift South Expedition is proud to continue our support for Camp One Step, a life-changing organization that provides children with cancer the chance to rediscover joy, confidence, and connection through camp experiences. In 2022, members of our team raised $5,000 during an Appalachian Trail fundraiser. This year, we’re doubling that goal to $10,000—and taking it to the Mississippi River.

Your donation helps send more kids to camp and supports a mission that inspires resilience, healing, and community.
