Uniting Our Experience for You.

Every member of Drift South Expedition has either completed or is currently hiking the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail (AT). The planning, budgeting, and determination required for such a journey are the same qualities essential for navigating the Mississippi River. Each team member brings firsthand experience with endurance expeditions—entering this journey fully prepared and deeply aware of the challenges ahead.

In 2022, Trevor Dralle and Coby Bassin led a successful fundraising effort on the Appalachian Trail, raising $5,000 for Camp One Step. This year, they’ve set their sights even higher—with a minimum goal of $10,000. Their leadership, combined with the diverse skills of the Drift South Expedition team, will drive our fundraising efforts for both Camp One Step and our environmental partners.

Charles Lampman and Morgan Skinner bring academic backgrounds in Biology/Marine Science and Environmental Science, respectively. Their growing careers in environmental work, combined with hands-on familiarity with field equipment, make them invaluable assets to the team. When paired with the crew’s deep outdoor experience, their knowledge ensures that our sampling efforts remain consistent, accurate, and resilient—rain or shine.

Most of our team comes from the world of Outdoor Education, with a strong focus on youth programming. That means we bring not only energy and enthusiasm, but also the sustained commitment and communication skills needed to connect with people of all ages. This background equips us to engage effectively—whether it’s one-on-one at a riverside tabling event or with thousands online.

The Drift South Expedition crew is made up of activists, public servants, and educators—united by a shared purpose. We’re on this river to engage with and support the people who call the Mississippi home. Just as we aim to share knowledge and resources, we welcome every opportunity to listen and learn from the communities we meet along the way.
